Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate(SLES)is a versatile anionic surfactant. It is a modified product derived from the nonionic surfactant fatty alcohol ethoxylate (AEO) through sulfation with a sulfating agent, followed by neutralization with an alkaline agent. The product appears as a white or light yellow viscous liquid or paste.
SLES is widely used in the household detergent industry, such as in laundry detergents and dishwashing liquids. In the personal care sector, it also serves as a key ingredient in products like shampoo, body wash, and hand soap. Additionally, AES plays an important role in industrial cleaning and textile applications.
With consumers’ increasing pursuit of quality of life,SLES is being applied more extensively in daily chemical and personal care products. As a primary component of cleaning products like dishwashing liquid, shampoo, and shower gel, it is highly favored for its excellent cleaning performance and mildness. Data show that global SLES production was approximately 4.4967 million tons in 2017, with demand around 4.4459 million tons. By 2023, global AES production had increased to 6.7725 million tons, with demand reaching 6.6967 million tons.
